This week's workouts

I am back in the game after some bad foot pain, possibly tied to a back injury from last year, as well as my trip to AZ.

I have been thinking about how I can change things up in order to drop some more LBS. I have not heard what the finale from the bootcamp is, but I know I dropped 5 lbs and inches. I am very happy with that, but need to do more. So, I realized that for several years I've been running the same 3 miles on the treadmill and then lifting weights. Lifting is important, as it will help you build muscle and shrink more, but my body is clearly in a plateau that has been caused by the same routine. Sure, I switch up what I do for weights, but it needs to be more.

This week, I ran 3.5 miles, and 3.2 miles respectivly. One problem I have is that at 3 miles on the treadmill, I hit a wall. I am working to get past that and tomorrow plan on running 4 miles.

While I am on a break from bootcamp, I am doing a lot of HIIT training, or High Intensitity Interval Training, and body weight stuff, giving myself a little break from the heavy weights.

Here are 2 workouts I stumbled across that I am going to do again this weekend, one on Saturday and 1 on Sunday along with an attempted 4 mile tredmill run both days.

This is a lower body workout that is a killer.

100 jumping jacks (I broke it up into 50 2x as my foot was hurting)
walking lunges, hands behind head deep lunges. I did 14 1 way and 14 the other way
10 jump lunges
side lunges, 20 total
20 mountain climbers
**repeat 2 times**
15 ballet lunges
15 calf raises; toes forward
15 calf raises heels together
15 calf raises toes together
15 prisoner squats
calf raise series
curtsey lunges
calf raise series
** repeat 2 times**

Throw in a little ab work
Side plank, 30 seconds per side
front plank 1 min
star fish for 30

The other one is a full body workout that is HARD. I am still feeling pain in my lats from this.

10 1-legged squats per side. Hold onto a body bar or pole or something. Squat as low as possible
20 body weight squats
20 walking lunges
20 plyo step jumps
10 pull ups- NOT on the assist pull up machine.
10 dips, NOT with the assist
10 chin ups NOT with the assist
10 pushups
30 second plank

O.M.G! My goal is to perfect pullups, chin ups and dips. I did the 10 dips but they were weak and tiny.

Ok, that's all I have for now. I hope to get my trip to Arizona done soon!

Pie Throwing FUN

I am Will's den leader for Cub Scouts, along with my good friend Maria. At our last pack meeting, the boys were all awarded either 1 or 2 pies to throw at the leaders depending on how much they'd raised in fundraisers.

Maria and I were lucky enough to be up first to get slammed with pies. Some of those boys had excellent aim and arms too! Including my own kid who got me square in the face.

Decorating the tree

I love for the last 3 months of the year. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite holidays. We put our tree up a little later than normal. Usually it is up and decorated over Thanksgiving weekend, but we traveled this year. Then the next weekend, when I was on recovery from the Bainebski weekend, Brett and Will went to menards to pick out a fresh tree and when I could finally move, we got it decorated.

Breakfast With Santa

Here we are! It's the Friday before Christmas, and I am finally catching up on all of this. I have some family fun blogs, and then the fitness ones will come next.

The first weekend in December was our annual Bainebski Christmas Extravaganza. This is the weekend when my best friend of more than 20 years and her family make the trek from Cataract, WI to the booming metropolis of West Allis, Wi. Or warmly known as Dirty Stallis. We have gift exchanges, breakfast with Santa at our zoo, we take in the Stallis holiday parade and drive through candy cane lane. When we get the kids all nestled in their beds and the moms and dads sit downstairs and have drinks and play cards or whatever..... It's one of my favorite times of year :)

Will and his brother from another mother, Carter
These crazy boys love to get on the stage during the sing a long
Will's friend from school joined us this year.

Mrs. Clause looks so thrilled. Will LOVED meeting them.

A little fun

I've been a little busy the past couple weeks and swear I will catch up on my blog, to include pictures from our Bainebski Christmas Extravaganza a couple weeks ago, and a fun boy scouts event that took place last week.

But until then, The ABCs Of Me

A- My AIR CONDITIONER is set on: Are you crazy! It's Wintertime in Wisconsin. That thing is set at 70 because I like to keep it roasty toasty up in here!
B- My BEDROOM theme is:paisley and owls. I love owls. Not the real owls, they're creepy but pictures, drawings... etc
C- The CAR in the driveway is:  Brett's. He's too lazy to pull in to the garage most nights.
D- My DESK looks:My work desk is sparking..... until you open the drawers and see why the top is so clean
E- The EXACT time I wake up daily is:6:15. I roll outta bed, throw on my contacts and brush my teath and head into the office at 6:25. Luckily the office is in my basement, as I don't get dressed or shower.... that's right I sit in my PJ's all day long. It's awesome!
F- The FIRST thing I wash in the shower is: My face.
G- My GARAGE is filled with:the norm. A lawn mower, snow blower, bikes a mouse or 2.....
H- My HOUSE is: really coming together. We did a big remodel on the upstairs this year and I LOVE it. Up next, sometime, redoing the kitchen.
I- If you peeked INSIDE my bedroom you'd see: books, books and more books. I hoard them. My dad made a built in book case in my room and I had it filled in pretty much 5 minutes.
J- My favorite JUICE is:does Crystal Lite count?
K- The best part of my KITCHEN is:the brick and the aclove by the stove
L- The LAST person who visited my home was: My BFF Jessie Bainter
M- The last piece of MAIL for me was: a hometown Sparta newspaper. It made my day. womp womp
N- My NEIGHBORS think I'm: I've only met a few this year. We know all the grannies behind us, but they hibernate in the winter. legit. they're all in some warm state right now. The guy right next to us moved in about 5 years ago. We've never had a conversation with him. Luckily this year I am meeting people in my hood, so it's not so lonely over here on 96th st.

O- If you OPENED my fridge you'd see: loads of yogurt for me. Loads of gogurt for Will and several gallons of milk for Brett (the beer is in a seperate fridge warmly known as The Beer Fridge)
P- My last house PARTY was: a couple weeks ago when the Bainters were here we had a couple of other fun folks in for drinks. I don't know if that counts. We don't do it up like we used to
Q- A QUICK meal I like to fix is: TACOS!
R- My favorite ROOM of the house is: Mine. Now that it's fully functional and I have an awesome reading area in it.....
S- The SHAMPOO brand I use is: Suave right now, but I love Aveda.
T- My largest TELEVISION is: 46" of High Def goodness. We have an old heavy junker upstairs that will be replaced soon
U- UNDER my bed you will find: a dust bunny or 2
V- The last time I VACUUMED was: Daily. We have a dog. he sheds. I hate dog hair. So I vac every day. OCD, yes. Clean? Oh YES!
W- Looking out my WINDOW I see: condos behind up, the grubby railroad tracks with an occasional bum sitting on them..... our giant yard. I have so many ideas for it
X- I wish I had X-TRA: money. duh. I have so many ideas of what I could do with it!
Y- My YARD is: super large.
Z- ZZZZZZZ My bedtime is:It was always 8:30 because I'd get up at the literal crack of dawn to hit the gym. Now I am more reasonable and I go after work. Therefore, I am now a rebel who stays up until 10:30 reading a book or getting my fill of teen mom. I know, I live the life!

Thanksgiving recap

***I have been horrible about taking pictures. I am vowing to be better about that!***

This year we decided to spend Thanksgiving in my home town. Sparta, WI. It's a cozy little town along the Wisconsin/Minnesota boarder. And it has been WAY too long since I've been home.

We had planned to leave as soon as Will was done with school on Wed. Little did I know, there was no school on Wed. WOW. good going, mom! So, Will and Brett spent the day together while I slaved away at work. As soon as the clock struck three, we loaded up in the car and hit the road. The traffic was not too bad, and we made good time.

As soon as we got to town we headed to my favorite Sparta resturant: The Fox Hole Pub. It's been there for a zillion years. Probably since the inception of our town. And I LOVE it! Now that it's non smoking Will can enjoy all its goodness too. My old friend, Erin was working so I got to visit with her briefly.

Thursday was THANKSGIVING! I got up early and then went for a 5 mile run through town. The runs through town (not a play on words) always take longer than expected. I'll stop and look at my old house, or stop and visit an old haunt. There's always so many memories and so many things to revisit. After that, Will and I made a pumpkin pie and I made some mashed taters. MMM. delish. We had a nice spread and an early lunch. After words, Will and I went to the playground at the elementary school I went to. That is the only place I got any pictures!

I can't believe this thing still exhists. It's original from when I was in school there!
As he jumped down from this he nailed his head on one of the bars. Wonderful time at the park!

Friday, we got up and lazed around. Then we went to visit my Grandma. We spent a little time with her and then headed out to the lovely unincorporated village of Cataract to spend time with my BFF and her family. We were pretty low key, just hanging out and visiting. And on Saturday they had a late Thanksgiving with family, so we went back into town and did some shopping and had lunch with my friends, Kristin and Debbie who I have not seen in ages!

Saturday night, one of my good friends was a contestant in the LaCrosse Dancing With The Stars. So we went to cheer him on. AND HE WON! It was a blast!!!!!

All in all, It was a wonderful trip back. I am glad to be home though. The dog missed us, I think :)

I better get back on the wagon

I had a bad eating weekend. Kind of. Well, mainly I did ok, but I didn't exercise to my full capacitcy last week. Primairly because my bootcamp kicked my ass last week and I felt sore for many days following. I did get some really good runs and weigh lifting sessions in though so it wasn't a total loss. But it is Thanksgiving this week and there will be food and snacks for days.

Will and I went out for dinner on Friday with some friends. I ate a burger and fries and didn't feel guilt. I got up and ran 3.05 miles and lifted weights. Then I had a light lunch and Will and I went to Racine to see a perfromance by the Chineese Acrobats. Kinda corny, but not too bad. Afterwords, I had the ladies in for a Perfectly Posh party. That stuff is AMAZING! After everyone left, my sweet friends from Appleton who drove down for it, and I went to a corner bar for a couple of drinks. I kid you not, we were there for several hours. I had a bloody mary and then 3 beers. Nursing every one of them. Yesterday I felt so gross and hung over. I went to McDonald's for a greasy breakfast. For lunch, I had a meal of movie theater popcorn. I didn't eat a ton and it was certainly not worth the money (or the calories!) I started to not feel well during the movie. Was it the popcorn??? I decided I needed more grease and made a frozen pizza and some bread sticks. Brett came back from hunting and had a bunch of the yummiest donuts left over. I'll be having one today :) I am also on board for a run and lift tonight. Tomorrow I have my outside run and then bootcamp.

Wed we are heading to my Dad's for the holiday. I am doing my own Turkey Trot on Thursday since there isn't one in town. SHAME ON THEM :) So, I'll have to just do home workouts while I am on vacation :)
